The ease of a friendly audience
Welcome to 2020! I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to be leading the Newcastle Business Club in its 87th year. It is an absolute honour and I am very excited about what we have planned.
To be honest leading up to our first luncheon yesterday I felt a lot of nerves, but as I was standing up there in front of a packed room, all I could see was a sea of warm faces whom many I know well now, from being part of the club now for four years.
For those of you who don’t know me, I am the co-founder of Monica Clare Recruitment, alongside Monica Walmsley. We work with our clients to help them find great talent and make the recruitment process easy.
As a business owner, I am aware of the benefits of networking and relationship building, and therefore the importance of organisations like the Newcastle Business Club. Which is why I have been involved for so many years!
Our February Event:
Our first event of the year was our annual Mayoral Panel, and it was a sell-out event.
Our Mayor’s included Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes, Mayor Loretta Baker, Mayor Ryan Palmer and Mayor Kay Fraser who all presented on the topic of What council is doing for business, focusing on the initiatives their council has in place, or in planning, to assist local businesses to succeed.
I’d like to thank all our speakers for their time and thank Natasha Beyersdorf for once again being a fantastic MC for this event.
I’d also like to thank you to oOh!Media for their sponsorship of the lunch and for their very generous donation of a $10,000 media package for the auction. Thank you also to Holly Martin of The Marketing GP, who was an unforgettable Auctioneer and congratulations to Marty Adnum, from Out of the Square Media, for his winning bid.
For more information about our photographer – Martin Sully, please visit Martin Sully Design. If you had your photo taken at the lunch, check out our Facebook page over the next few days to see if you feature in the album.
Our March Event:
We have already locked in our topics for the following months as well, with Peter Williams presenting at our March event. Peter is a world leading innovations practitioner and one of Australia’s top digital influencers. Peter works with clients to help them understand and leverage the rapidly changing environment and big shifts coming with digital innovation and globalisation. At the lunch, Peter will share the long-term trends that will affect your business as well as the near-term actions you can take to position your business for success.
